Ed,

Now, I have to admit, when I first saw one of the hand paddles, I thought, "Interesting idea but I doubt I'd ever use
one". At that point, I had Tarpon 16's, both with rudders, and just never could think of a time when I'd have wanted
one.

I recently bought a Native Ultimate 14. I am falling in love with this boat but it drifts completely different from a
traditional kayak. I am constantly needing little corrections while working a drift line. It wants to turn perpendicular to
the breeze. A rudder solves that but, without it, I am finding the (Piranha) hand paddle to be a wonderful tool.

I was out this morning with a good bud who saw me using it. Instead of the kayak paddle under the arm pit using
one hand for one small stroke, I was making a simple and quick adjustment with the (Piranha) hand paddle.

Well, my impression has changed. Not only an interesting idea but a damn good product. Thanks!

To whom it may concern,

I recently purchased a Predator paddle from www.kayakfishingsupplies.com. At first I was not sure about it, but after
using it the first time today, I must say I really enjoyed using it. Moving my kayak at little here or a little there, was
done with ease because of my Predator paddle. I liked it so much, I did a nice review for it on 6 different kayak
fishing forums. Thanks again for a great product!

Revolutionizing Paddle Sportsmen's Stealth and Mobility
Review on the Back Water paddle company and their new wooden paddle.

My name is Pete Alvarez and I run a Kayak fishing website for the state of Florida and run the Space Coast Teen
Angler program.

I was asked by a Randy who does a lot of work for Coastal Angler Magazine and a volunteer for the Space Coast
Teen Angler to give an honest review on this paddle.

I picked up the paddle a few weeks ago and was very impressed off the bat. The craftsmanship was top of the line
and I can see a lot of thinking went it to the design.

First thing they are really thinking of the kayak angler, because it is very light and it floats, along with being compact.

There are two different ones to chose from, a smaller one without any teeth and a larger one with teeth. There some
really cool features like a hook on both of them on one side and some teeth on the other. I found that the hook helps
out in many ways, one by holding a branch or pulling the angler closer to that point. On the other side that has the
teeth on the larger one is helpful by pushing off rock and other hard objects.

The best thing I have found out by using this product is that I can always keep my fishing rod in my hands and fish
while I position myself for the next cast. The problem I see with a lot of anglers is that they have to put their rod down
to position their self for that next cast and miss out on the chance for that fish they spotted.

I highly recommend you check them out before your next fishing adventure.

Backwater hand paddle review:

The Good:

Both paddles preformed well at doing quick angle changes while drifting and fighting large fish. No need to mess
with the large paddle is a big plus.

Both seemed quite buoyant though I still put a float on them.

I soaked one in saltwater for 7 days, and one in fresh for 5 days with no noticeable delaminating or defects on ether.
That was fully submerged and weighted down.

The serrated edge on the one style did work well in some close contact with pilings while sheepshead fishing.
Though the blunt tip edge of the other worked just as well.

The most significant advantage I could find less the first bullet point was the reverse hook cut out. This brings the
tool aspect to the paddles. It worked well on branches for a quick hold, eased the retrieval of your anchor line, and
also for quick hookup to a buddy for rafting to chat or share gear.

One thing that I did, though a modification was to sand and smooth the reverse hook to bring it the line with your fish
on it. It’s a little sketchy with mono, but braid was no issue after it was smoothed. This is one of those things you can’
t understand till you’re in a kayak and your fish will not let you grab him.

The good summary:
All and all this is a very useful product with great potential. Its small, light weight, and seems to hold up well to the
rigors of saltwater fishing. The ability to change your drift angle with out the big paddle is great for working down a
shore line, and lining up the next set of pothole’s or grass edge. I also found it useful to add some directional drag
when fighting large fish from the kayak. The reverse hook is a very nice tool that does fill a gap in a wide range of
situations except for the few kayakers that carry a boat hook, I don’t, and the Backwater hand paddles do help.

The Bad:

More stuff to carry, and keep track of on your kayak.

The reverse hook could be smoothed or capped with something to use for fish landing.

Though my tests did not show any weakness in lamination. I still think it could be an issue over time and use.

The bad summary:
Sorry I don’t have much for this, it surprised me too!  Of course do you really need more stuff on your kayak?  If the
price point comes in low then it could be a good seller.
